How DotVA handles your application

Plain English, no surprises. We use automated checks to help (for example, scoring the skills questions and flagging answers that look copied or AI-generated), but a person makes the final call.

What we collect

Your name and contact details, the role you apply for, your answers to the assessment and interview, an optional resume and links you choose to share. As part of phase one we ask you to record a short intro video; this captures both your image and your voice. We also record the connection (IP) address you apply from, which we use only to spot duplicate or abusive applications.

Activity we record during the assessment

To keep the assessment fair we record some activity on the test pages: how long you take on each section, your general typing pattern, any attempt to paste, and whether you switch away from the test window. We use this as a prompt for a closer human look, for example before a live interview. It is advisory only: it is never a score and it never rejects you on its own. A real person reviews everything.

Why we collect it

Only to assess your application fairly and to keep your details on file so we can consider you for future roles. We do not sell your data or share it outside DotVA (Boring Ventures Pty Ltd) and the client team considering your application. The intro video is watched by a person, on our team or the client team considering you, and is never scored automatically.

Where your data is stored

Boring Ventures Pty Ltd is an Australian company, so your application is processed in Australia and stored on a secure server located in Europe. If you apply from outside these places, your information is transferred to and handled there. Boring Ventures Pty Ltd remains responsible for it wherever it is held.

How long we keep it

We keep applications so a strong person is never lost when a new role opens. For applications that did not progress, we remove the detailed assessment data, free text, connection details and uploaded files (including the intro video) after a set period, keeping only a minimal record (name, email, role and score).

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it, at any time. Email [email protected] and we will sort it out.
